Myopia/Nearsighted Management
Approximately 30% of people around the world are estimated to be nearsighted, also known as myopic. This number is expected to increase up to 50% by 2050! High levels of myopia greatly increase the risk for developing blinding eye diseases such as glaucoma, retinal detachments, cataracts and myopicmaculopathy. Click here for more details. In the past, there was no treatment to prevent myopia from getting worse. Fortunately, now there are many options which our clinic specializes in. Whether it’s as simple as using low dose atropine eye drops, wearing a hard contact lens (Orthokeratology) every night to reshape the front part of the eye so in the morning no glasses are needed, or wearing the only soft daily disposable contact lens approved by the FDA to slow the progression of myopia (MiSight), our clinic is pleased to be able to offer these treatment options to combat this growing epidemic. |
