diabetic retinopathy
Poorly controlled diabetes can result in Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetic Retinopathy is when bleeding and/or swelling develops inside the eye from too much sugar in the blood. It is recommended that diabetics have a dilated eye exam at least once a year to evaluate for these complications. At Dr. Huse and Associates, we perform these tests and have the technology to take photos of the inside of your eyes as well as scan your eyes for swelling. If diabetic retinopathy is severe enough, it may require referral to a retinal specialist for laser treatment or eye injections.
